Genesis Apex

The Genesis Apex system incorporates improvements in the silicon drift detector (SDD) technology, digital pulse processing electronics and analytical software.

It is designed around the latest in (SDD) chip technology in the Apollo SDD series, new digital pulse processing electronics, DPP III, and Genesis analytical software Version 6.

The latest version of the EDAX EDS software, GENESIS 6 includes many new advanced features to enhanced EDS capabilities including Expert ID and SnapShot.

EXpert ID is the new standard in accurate element identification by achieving optimum peak identification. SnapShot enables the user to automatically acquire spectra at user-defined time intervals to examine the interaction of samples and the electron beam.

GENESIS X-ray microanalysis software is a powerful, easy to use, single window user interface allowing for straightforward and flexible analysis. All the necessary tools and detector controls available within one software package and the Genesis software is controlled via an easy to use COPILOT panel so the tools needed by 90% of users, 90% of the time are always easily available.

The EDAM IV has capacity for additional PCI boards enabling the Genesis Apex 4 to control up to multiple detectors providing the user with complete microanalysis capabilities including multiple combinations of EDS, WDS and EBSD.

The Apex systems DPP-III electronics are specifically designed for SDD with optimised pulse pile up correction to ensure that the maximum number of input counts are available to the analytical software.

The DPPIII digital pulse processing electronics features:

operates optimally at short shaping times to reduce dead time effects
capable of handling over 1,000,000 input cps to produce a throughput of over 300,000 cps
state of the art pulse pile-up correction to minimize artifacts in the spectrum
capable of operating in parallel with other DPP electronics for multiple detector configurations

Apollo Silicon Drift Detector series:

Apollo SDD Detectors offer resolution down to 123eV at MnK and below 50eV at CK
Apollo SDD Detectors provide first-in-class peak to background ratios up to 15,000:1
